Thank yuo - Yes i can see that - but in fact it started out as an experiment in spliting an object into other objects, for rendering in bryce, and when that was done - well there was no turning back, without starting all over again. I'm aware of that problem with hypernurbs

I guess you had useless polygons, because this scene isnt very large.

HDRI i guess + the pc was doing other stuff as well - i'm not that clever with render settings - yet - so i used both AO and GI - which probably is wrong - anyways i like the result so it was worth it :-)

the poles of those balls look pretty bad instead of using hypernurbs try boosting up the segments and use Hexaeder as sphere type.
